Snowflake Banner

We love to make banners for birthdays, holidays, and other events. We usually stick to fairly basic flags but thought we would liven our Christmas banner up by making snowflake flags. You can make this elegant and snowy banner with ribbon (or yarn), plain printer paper, and a glue gun or any sort of craft glue you have around your house. We also used a piece of poster board type of paper to create a pattern to cut out the triangles. (you could use cardboard or other thick paper).

What you will need:
* A parent's permission or help
* Plain white printer paper
* Scissors - and possibly a knife to cut a cardboard/thick paper triangle pattern
* Thick paper (like poster board or cardboard) for your triangle flag pattern
* A pencil to trace with
* Ribbon or yarn
* Glue gun and glue sticks - or craft glue that will stick to ribbon and paper
* Tacks or tape to hang the finished snowflake banner up with

1. Make a triangle pattern using a ruler, pencil, scissors (or knife - ask your parents for permission or help with this).

2. Trace the pattern onto white paper and cut out the desired amount of flags you wish to have on your banner.

3. Fold the flags in half or thirds then cut out designs and shapes just as you would if you were making a snowflake. You can stack a couple flags together and cut them out at the same time if you want to.

4. Ask for a parent's permission or help to iron the snowflake flags so they are flat. Heat the iron to medium-low and cover the snowflake flag with a cloth while ironing. Do not use steam or spray.

5. Next, lay out your desired length of ribbon and glue the snowflake flags to one side of the ribbon using a hot glue gun or craft glue.

6. After the glue has dried, hang up your lovely snowflake banner and enjoy!
